Creative Nonfiction Guidelines:

RBR is looking primarily for personal or autobiographical essays - a subgenre of what is commonly called "life writing" - that illuminate a particular theme and help us see the world in new ways.  We are also open to considering especially well-written essays that fall under the broader genre of Creative Nonfiction.

Essays are to be single spaced, and should be no longer than 3,500 words. Submissions are accepted only electronically--click on the SUBMIT button below. Please submit your work in one of the following file formats: DOC or DOCX, RTF, or PDF. If your work is accepted for publication, a Word-compatible file will be requested for use in the editorial process.

Please limit your submission to no more than two essays per submission period. Simultaneous submissions are fine, as long as you notify us immediately via email if your essay is accepted elsewhere.

Theme for the upcoming issue:

RBR 2017: "What I Want to Know"

Which of life's questions keep you up at night?  If there were to be one bit of knowledge out there that you believe would have the most potential to transform your life for the better, what would it be?  In what ways might this knowledge change you and others you know?
