Creative Nonfiction Guidelines:

RBR is looking primarily for personal or autobiographical essays--a subgenre of what is commonly called "life writing"--that illuminate a particular theme and help us see the world in new ways. We are also open to considering especially well-written essays that fall under the broader genre of creative nonfiction.

The editors read every essay submitted. Essays should be single spaced and no longer than 3,500 words. You may submit up to two essays per submission period.

Submissions are accepted only electronically--click on the SUBMIT button below. Please submit your work in one of the following file formats: DOC or DOCX, RTF, or PDF. If your work is accepted for publication, a Word-compatible file will be requested for use in the editorial process.
